I’ve been Toying with this idea for a while.

Lockdown forced us all to slow down and it gave me an opportunity to reflect on my work. I had long carved out a style for myself, blending the pink and turquoise colour ways, typography and monochromatic portraits which I’ve come to be known by, but felt I could further develop this theme in some way. Having my son at this same time, and re discovering old toys of mine from my childhood as well as new toys of his, I found new inspiration in their bold simplistic design and colours. I thought that mixing this with the complexities of realism and still using my signature colours could be an interesting new development in my work.

This is the first artwork to come from this, and I’m excited to share it with you.
